This 'Voice' Contestant's Powerhouse Audition Turned All Four Coaches' Chairs

"You're the first person that's ever auditioned that's giving us an opportunity, not the other way around."

Season 13 of The Voice doesn't officially premiere on NBC until tonight, but the show shared a sneak peek at one of the new blind auditions on YouTube, and it's a good one.

When Chris Weaver took the stage to sing "Try a Little Tenderness," it only took a few lyrics to get coaches Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson to press the buttons and turn their chairs — and he was just getting started. As he built to the chorus, Miley Cyrus and Blake Shelton couldn't help but join in. The song was the perfect choice to show off Weaver's powerhouse voice.

He was so good that not only did he turn all four chairs, but Hudson also threw a shoe — specifically, Cyrus' — at the stage after his performance. "Where I come from, that's a compliment," she explained, as Weaver reminded her of the time she did the same thing when he sang for her at a party for the Broadway show The Color Purple.

Weaver took a moment to tell the judges about himself, explaining, "I'm a worship leader, but I'm also a drag queen." According to Parade, the singer said in his intro package, "I don't think anybody has a story like mine. Growing up gay in the church, I didn't feel like I was me."

Levine, meanwhile, threw his shoe and his jacket at Weaver. "You're the first person that's ever auditioned that's giving us an opportunity, not the other way around," Levine said.

We'll have to wait until the show premieres to find out which of the four coaches Weaver chose.
