Sara Bareilles And Jason Mraz Sound Simply Yummy In This 'Waitress' Duet

"It Only Takes a Taste" and you'll be in love.

Two singer-songwriter BFFs, Sara Bareilles and Jason Mraz, will be joining forces onstage for the musical Waitress — and we're getting our first taste of what that collaboration might look and sound like. While they've already sung together on two songs for the show, "Bad Idea" and "You Matter to Me," they're adding another to the mix with "It Only Takes a Taste."

The video shows Bareilles, as Jenna Hunterson, and Mraz, as Dr. Jim Pomatter, sitting on a bench in New York City's Central Park for an acoustic performance celebrating their upcoming — albeit short — stint together on Broadway. Accompanied by a full band, the two easily showcase their vocal chops and spot-on theatricality in this sweet and pie pun-filled song.

Bareilles and Mraz will share the stage for two weeks, from January 16-28, so it'll surely be a can't-miss engagement. Waitress, the Broadway version of Adrienne Shelly's indie darling 2007 film starring Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion, was nominated for four Tony Awards in 2016. This included one for Bareilles, who did the music and lyrics for it, as well as for Best Musical and recognition for both lead stars, Jessie Mueller and Christopher Fitzgerald.

In a previous statement about the joint appearance, Bareilles said it was "a mini-miracle of schedules aligning" to share the stage with Mraz. This collaboration — and the upcoming one at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre — is already giving us a sweet tooth. And we welcome the cavities.
