Last year, rapper Logic performed his song "1-800-273-8255" at the MTV Video Music Awards, and brought a group of suicide attempt survivors on stage with him to send the message that "You are not alone." This year, he made another powerful statement during his VMAs performance of "One Day" with Ryan Tedder.

Logic emerged for the performance wearing a shirt that read "F*CK THE WALL," a reference to President Trump's proposed border wall with Mexico. According to Variety, the rapper was joined by immigrant rights activists and "others displaced by Trump's policies at the border."

Yahoo reports that the group included leaders from organizations such as the National Domestic Workers Alliance, United We Dream, and Make the Road New York, as well as their children. They wore shirts reading, "WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS."

Toward the end of the performance, a screen which had been separating the families rose, reuniting them in a symbolic reference to the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" immigration policy. As rapper KYLE reportedly said to introduce the performance, Logic brought "peace, love, and positivity to the VMAs."

On Friday, Logic released his music video for "One Day," which dealt with the same relevant themes. According to Yahoo, 15-year-old Jefferson Arpi of United We Dream, who appeared on stage at the VMAs, said in a statement, "Logic's music video showed that even though our families face a lot of pain, we are strong, we are fighters, and we are human." He added, "It meant a lot to me to be able to represent my family because my dad, Manuel Arpi, is in a detention camp."
