Listen To Lin-Manuel Miranda's Star-Studded New Song Benefiting Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief

Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, Luis Fonsi, Marc Anthony, and more.

For the past week, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda has been teasing a new song on Twitter. The track, which he debuted at midnight on Friday, features a long list of talented stars, and will benefit hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. All proceeds will go to Hispanic Federation.

The song is called "Almost Like Praying," inspired by a lyric in "Maria," a song from West Side Story. "Say it loud and there's music playing / Say it soft and it's almost like praying," Miranda sings at the opening.

"I wrote this song the day after the hurricane hit Puerto Rico. And one, we realized this storm was the worst storm to hit the island in modern history, and its name was Maria," Miranda told Billboard. "And that's the name of my favorite song from West Side Story. So I thought, how can I flip that negative connotation into something [positive] for Puerto Rico?"

The rest of the lyrics feature the names of all 78 towns in Puerto Rico, sung by various Latin artists, including Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, Luis Fonsi, Marc Anthony, Camila Cabello, Gina Rodriguez, and even West Side Story star Rita Moreno.

"To every artist, I've said, 'Can you help out on this song?' And they said yes. Without even hearing the song, everyone's joined in," Miranda told CNN, adding that it's "a love letter to Puerto Rico."

In the days leading up to the song's release, Miranda shared a number of photos and videos with artists involved on the track. He even posed for a snap (above) with Stephen Sondheim, West Side Story's legendary lyricist.

Miranda joins a number of celebrities who have done their part to help Puerto Rico in the midst of this crisis. Jennifer Lopez donated $1 million, while Pitbull used his private plane to evacuate cancer patients. Jay-Z's Tidal also sent a plane full of supplies, while various celebrities have shared their awkward teenage photos to raise money.
