Plane Crash Survivor Kechi Performed A Beautiful Ed Sheeran Cover On 'America's Got Talent'

Watch her perform "Thinking Out Loud."

This week, the America's Got Talent judges were introduced to Kechi Okwuchi, who shared the incredible story behind her renewed interest in singing.

Kechi, who is originally from Nigeria, was one of two survivors in a plane crash that took the lives of 107 people in 2005, when she was 16 years old. Music helped her through her treatment for severe burns after the crash, as she underwent more than 100 surgeries.

"Lying in the hospital bed with bandages from head to foot, not being able to move or do anything else, music was my escape, and that's why it means so much to me," she explained.

The judges and audience were amazed by Kechi's story, and they were also clearly moved by her performance. The 27-year-old chose to sing "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran, and her stunning voice brought many of the audience members to their feet.

"I want to say how brave you are and how much you standing there right now is going to inspire so many people," judge Mel B told the singer

"What I am most proud about this show is it gives people a platform when normally you don't get a platform," Simon Cowell added, telling Kechi that there is "more to come from you."
