Katy Perry's New Song 'Chained To The Rhythm' Comes With A Bite-Sized Music Video

It's artistically adorable.

Katy Perry is officially back. It's been quite some time since we've heard new music from her, but early Friday morning she released her first new song since last year's Olympic anthem "Rise." (Before that, her last album was 2013's Prism.) In the meantime, Perry has remained politically engaged.

Earlier this week, the singer debuted a fresh blonde hairstyle, and announced a new single and a Grammys performance this weekend. Perry teased the song, titled "Chained to the Rhythm," by planting disco balls in 24 locations, and allowing fans to plug in their headphones and give it a listen.

Perry debuted the song (which features Bob Marley's son Skip) to the public overnight, along with a creative lyric video in which a pair of hands reaches into a tiny kitchen to prepare equally tiny food for a hamster. According to the video's description, the food was created by Walking With Giants, a YouTube channel run by artist Jay Baron, who prepares miniature edible food. The hamster, named Mr. Parsons, ate hamster-safe ingredients.

It's not the first artistic video Perry has been involved with this year. Last month, she produced a PSA which used prosthetic makeup to send a powerful message comparing a proposed Muslim registry with the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. We're interested to see what else Perry has up her sleeve as she releases more music.
