Ed Sheeran Covered This Girl Group's Dance Track As An Acoustic Ballad

Watch him sing Little Mix's "Touch" in the Live Lounge.

BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge has brought us countless amazing covers from today's most talented musicians. For instance, Bruno Mars gave an incredible performance of Adele's "All I Ask," and Shawn Mendes put his own spin on Drake's "Fake Love."

Most recently, the Live Lounge welcomed Ed Sheeran, who has been blowing us away in the weeks leading up to his new album release. You might be surprised to learn that Sheeran chose to cover "Touch" by Little Mix. The danceable pop song, from one of the U.K.'s biggest girl groups, might seem to contrast Sheeran's stripped-down style. But that's what makes his take on the track so exciting.

In Sheeran's hands, the song becomes an acoustic ballad that would fit in perfectly on one of his own albums. The ladies of Little Mix, who previously performed their own acoustic version of the song, tweeted their approval on Tuesday.

The singer also revealed what a "fan girl" he is of the group, saying they were the one concert he attended last year. For him, girl groups aren't just for girls — whether you're covering a song or just enjoying one.

"I rarely meet boys now who don't like Little Mix, they just have hit upon hit, there's not a song that comes out that I'm not like, 'Oh, that's gonna be in my head for a month now.' They're always on point," he said, according to NME.
