Step Into Ed Sheeran's Shoes In The Fun New Video For His Song 'Galway Girl'

Who better than Saoirse Ronan for the title role?

Ed Sheeran hardly appears in the new music video for the song "Galway Girl," off his latest album Divide. That's because the whole thing takes place from his point of view. The title role, meanwhile, goes to Oscar-nominated Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, who pulls Sheeran along through a wild night in the Irish city.

The video, directed by Jason Koenig and shot by Sheeran himself, features dancing, drinking, and dart-playing. Ronan's character even drags Sheeran to get a tattoo in her handwriting. The singer recently shared with fans at a concert that Ronan misspelled the very real and very permanent ink as "Galway Grill."

Sheeran, who already has dozens of other tattoos, didn't seem to mind. "I'm actually kind of proud of her," he said. "It's the kind of thing that I would do."

The new video also features a group of Irish step dancers who performed a stunning routine to Sheeran's "Shape of You" earlier this year. The real-life Galway girls bump into Sheeran on the street and ask for his autograph. If only the guy Sheeran spills his drink on later in the video were as big a fan.
