We Must Confess That We Love Ed Sheeran's Acoustic Cover Of Britney Spears' 'Baby One More Time'

Hear him put his own signature spin on the classic.

We're beginning to think Ed Sheeran could cover just about anything and make it his own. In the past, we've seen him perform acoustic versions of songs such as 50 Cent's "In Da Club" and Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" (which he just so happens to have co-written), and just last week he and James Corden teamed up to sing One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" in Carpool Karaoke.

Sheeran's latest cover choice is a song by a fellow chart-topper — "... Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears. The song, off Spears' debut album of the same name, hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart in 1999. Eighteen years later, Sheeran's "Shape of You" made it to the same spot.

In Sheeran's hands, Spears' classic pop track gets a stripped-down makeover. The singer's raw vocals simple guitar make for a cover we'll definitely be playing one more time, and one more time after that, all day.

Sheeran performed the song as part of the Spotify Singles program, in which, according to Billboard, artists release one new song and one cover on the streaming platform. Sheeran released this cover along with a Spotify-exclusive version of "Castle on the Hill."
