An Impressive Original Song Earned This Ed Sheeran-esque Singer The Golden Buzzer On 'America's Got Talent'

"You're on your way to be a star."

Tuesday night marked another episode of judge cuts on America's Got Talent, as the panel narrowed down the crop of contestants before moving on to the live shows. The standout performance of the night came from 21-year-old Chase Goehring, a singer-songwriter who performed an original song.

Goehring auditioned for the show with a song called "Hurt," which addressed the issue of domestic violence. The young singer has earned comparisons to artists such as Ed Sheeran (he even has red hair) and Jason Mraz. Goehring seems flattered by it, telling AXS, "It's a huge honor, because all of them are insanely talented. To have people say, 'You remind me of somebody that's so talented,' that's a huge compliment!"

Although Goehring's style may be reminiscent of artists who've come before him, he has his own voice, which he showed off in a new song called "A Capella." As he explained to the judges before the performance, "It's really about me. I know I did a song about somebody else the first time, but this song is about me, because I really just want to be my own artist and make music that people can relate to."

Goehring's "real and authentic" lyrics impressed guest judge DJ Khaled. "You're on your way to be a star," he told the singer. "This show and this stage is gonna make you into a superstar."

With that, he pushed the Golden Buzzer to send Goehring straight into the live shows, where he'll perform for America's vote. We can't wait to hear what else he has up his sleeve.
