In The Spirit Of Giving

How One Make-A-Wish Kid Is Helping Thousands This Holiday Season

After being granted a wish by Make-A-Wish America, AJ is now working to make others' wishes come true.

We love tinsel and trappings as much as the next Elf on the Shelf devotees, but here at A Plus, we believe that true wintertime magic comes in the form of connection and human kindness. Over the next month, come back and join us in raising a glass to those who give — because what's December without a little holiday spirit?

On Friday, Dec. 8, eighth grader AJ Sylvestri delivered a record number of letters to Santa — but not because he wanted a record number of gifts. Instead, he undertook the mission because Macy's promised to donate $2 for every letter received to the Make-A-Wish Foundation on "National Believe Day."

AJ Silvestri has cystic fibrosis. In 2012, Make-A-Wish granted his wish and introduced him to the cast of Pawn Stars in Las Vegas. Sylvestri now spends every holiday season paying it forward through the letter writing campaign set up by Macy's Believe Campaign. As AJ says, "it doesn't cost anything to write a five-word sentence."
