Nickelodeon's 'Loud House' Will Be The Network's First Cartoon To Feature A Family With Two Dads

Families come in many different forms.

Nickelodeon has become the latest entertainment outlet to reflect the changes that have taken place in society.

According to a report by Variety, the network will introduce a same-sex couple on the animated show The Loud House on Wednesday.

The show follows Lincoln Loud, who is the only boy in a house he shares with his parents and 10 sisters. When his pal, Clyde McBride, comes over for a sleepover, viewers get introduced to Harold McBride and Howard McBride, an interracial same-sex couple voiced by Let's Make a Deal host Wayne Brady and MadTV alum Michael McDonald, respectively.

Entertainment Weekly reports that this is the first time the network has featured a gay couple in an animated show. And the pair proves that sexual orientation doesn't determine how well you can parent, as they dote over their young son before dropping him off for the slumber party.

The groundbreaking move comes months after social media speculated a lesbian couple appeared in the recent film, Finding Dory, and years after Disney introduced a pair of mothers in the TV series, Good Luck Charlie.

It also shows the admirable progress since gay marriage became legal in the U.S. last year.
