This Artist Will Blow You Away With His Hyper-Realistic Pencil Drawings

These days we rely on digital means to create mind-blowing images, but sometimes all you really need is a pencil. One artist, Gurekbal Bhachu, is making truly impressive hyper-realistic artwork of both real people and fictional characters alike.

The 24-year-old self-taught Londoner recently went viral on Twitter for a drawing of Thanos, the big bad played by Josh Brolin in this summer's Marvel blockbuster, Avengers: Infinity War. That said, there are others that are pretty darn spectacular as well. Bhachu clearly finds inspiration in film and TV in addition to the music world — we're looking at you, Drake and Rihanna.

For the Thanos piece specifically, Bhachu began in June and completed the work in August. He calls it "the most difficult piece I've ever done" and said that, though there were many hurdles and mistakes along the way, in the end, he did it.

If you want to see more of Bhachu's incredible work — including the process of how an illustration develops from start to finish — be sure to give him a follow on Instagram. In the meantime, here are 13 of standouts from his account.
