87-Year-Old Grandmother Uses Microsoft Paint To Create These Detailed Masterpieces

She now has more than 125,000 followers on Instagram.

When Microsoft Paint was first released more than three decades ago, it was an instant hit. It was one of the first ways to creatively express yourself on the computer and anyone could quickly learn to use it. You probably remember opening it up to doodle back in the '90s. But compared to all of the powerful graphic design programs we have today, MS Paint is hilariously simple

In spite of its limitations, Concha García Zaera has mastered the program and her works are proof that you can do quite a lot with a little. Her meticulously detailed artworks often feature landscapes and beautiful scenery that clearly take some serious skill.

In an interview with Radio Valencia, the 87-year-old grandmother from Valencia, Spain, explained she used to enjoy taking oil painting classes but couldn't practice at home because of the strong smell. So, when her children bought her a computer, she traded her oil paints and brushes for Microsoft Paint and a mouse.

"My husband fell ill and I had to take care of him, so I couldn't go out very often," Zaera told El Mundo. "I began painting little things: first, a house, the next day I'd add a mountain … Step by step, I was adding details, and in the end, the result was a very pretty thing."

The pieces can take Zaera anywhere from two weeks to more than a month to complete, and she often gets her inspiration from postcards and landscapes

After some encouragement from her granddaughters, Zaera started sharing her impressive artworks on her Instagram account @conchagzaera. She's only shared 17 pieces since she started the account last October, but she's already gained more than 125,000 followers.

"I do not understand very well why my drawings draw so much attention," she told Vanguardia. "I think they are very simple things."
