Zach Galifianakis Saved This 87-Year-Old Woman From Homelessness

A wonderful story.

When Zach Galifianakis arrived at The Hangover III premiere this week, he had a very special guest on his arm.

Elizabeth "Mimi" Haist, who Galifianakis met 20 years ago when she worked at his local laundromat, slipped into homeless in 2011. When Galifianakis found out, he secured the 87-year-old a one-bedroom apartment and began paying her rent and utilities. He even got Renee Zellweger to furnish the apartment and bring her groceries.

Galifianakis now brings his old friend to one movie premiere every year.

"I dress up nice and a friend helps me with my makeup. It's fun, not something I've ever dreamed I'd experience. The limo takes me home afterwards," Haist told the Daily News. "Afterwards, they have a party at somewhere close by and you meet the stars. I drink lemon drop martinis with Grey Goose vodka."
