Artists Use Powerful New Music Video To Encourage People In Pain To Never To Give Up

'Escape The Flames.'

Suicide is the third-leading cause of death for U.S. kids aged 10 to 14 years old and the second-leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds, per the CDC.

This is exactly why artists T-Ravill and Brixx (otherwise known as Brixx Minguez and Travis Wilt from Pennsylvania) used their latest music video as a way to spread suicide awareness and hope in general. Brixx in particular likes to use her music to bring topics she's dealt with in her life to light.

She explained to A Plus in an email:

One day Travis came to me and brought up the idea of doing a song for suicide awareness. Throughout our lives we both have dealt with emotional issues that lead many people to either consider or commit suicide. For myself I've always struggled with the backlash of being gay, especially coming from a small town, where being any form of different yet alone gay, is frowned upon. Travis came from a poverty level upbringing, with no parental guidance, and no friends for emotional support.

After two months perfecting the lyrics for "Escape the Flames," they filmed the accompanying video and it documents the struggle of a bullied girl who contemplates suicide, but ultimate finds the strength to carry on.

Instead of songs that only talk about the dark side of depression and suicidal thoughts, Ravill and Brixx's give hope:

'All this depression, it still kinda dawned on me. I gotta be proud to be me.'

'Even though I wonder why I still know I gotta try. 'Cause in the end I'm gonna be a star. Not going to be a quitter, you're going to see me every night just like the Big Dipper.'

'Trust me I know what it's like to never want to live, but you gotta stop thinking of the negative. Because in the end, something's gotta give.'

Ultimately, the 22- and 25-year-old musicians want people to know that they can overcome the obstacles that come their way.

"We both can only hope that it gives people inspiration to overcome," Brixx said.
