Police Officer Distracting A Little Girl After Fatal Accident Captured In Tragic Photo

'Look for the helpers.'

Given recent events, tragedy is definitely not lacking in the U.S. these days. Hate-fueled massacres and deadly car crashes are all too common. But there's a quote that first began circulating during the Boston bombings that reminds us to have hope and to see the good within the bad:

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' " — Mister Rogers

After a fatal car accident on an interstate in Brighton, Colo., on Thursday, passerby Jessica Matrious was able to capture a "helper" at work: an officer distracting a little girl on the scene of the crash.

According to 9News, the SUV blew a tire and made a sharp turn that led to the car rolling and the girl, three other children, and their mother and father being ejected out of the vehicle, none of them restrained properly.

The father died at the scene.

Matrious called 911, but as she waited, she was able to capture this beautifully tragic moment:

The police officer is seen distracting the toddler who was involved in the fatal crash.

"It's so horrible to see something like that happen, especially because it could have been prevented," Matrious told the station. "If the father was wearing a seatbelt, then he'd still be here."

Thankfully, the little girl had someone to comfort her in the midst of it all.
