'This Is Us' Fans Share How They Paid Tribute To Loved Ones At Their Weddings After Finale

"I always take his union pin with me to important events ..."

Season 2 of This Is Us came to an end this week, which gives our tear ducts a much-needed break before the show is back in September. Unsurprisingly, the finale was an emotional rollercoaster for both the audience and the show's characters

As Kate prepared to walk down the aisle, she knew she wanted to honor her late father, Jack. She planned to wear his old Daytona Beach T-shirt as her "something old." Fortunately, when it went missing, her brothers sprang into action to find her something else of his she could use instead. They created a pile of miscellaneous stuff that included a boxing glove, fishing pole, screwdriver, hammer, baseball bat, and more.

So, what did she end up using? While some eagle-eyed fans may have noticed it, many of us missed it. Luckily, a fan tweeted at Chrissy Metz, who plays Kate, to find out what it was.

"Since we couldn't find the Daytona beach T-shirt, it was Jacks old screwdriver," Metz replied on Twitter. The screwdriver was nestled inside of the bouquet she carried during the ceremony.

"With all the different choices [of Jack's], it was a matter of, 'What will fit in a bouquet," This Is Us producer Isaac Aptaker told Glamour.

In response to Metz's tweet about her character's wedding day tribute to her father, many fans shared their own experiences honoring loved ones during their nuptials. From pins, to handkerchiefs, gloves, people wanted things that reminded them of those they lost to be with them as they took the next big step in their lives.

This is just another reminder that part of the reason fans love This Is Us so much is because it's so relatable. Kate may have felt a little over-the-top with the tributes to her father, but she's in good company with so many others who want to remember their late loved ones during their wedding day, too.
