'This Is Us' Fans Reveal How The Show Inspires Them, But They Don’t Expect A Surprise From The Cast

And we're sobbing.

It's no secret that the NBC hit This Is Us has made its fans cry a time or two (or three, or four, or 10). The show has dealt with emotional topics such as body image, death, love, adoption, anxiety, and parenting, among others.

Now, in a video uploaded to YouTube, fans are invited to talk about why the show has inspired them.

For example, one man explains how he was raised by a single mother and never knew who his dad was. Recently, he took a DNA test and found out the name of his biological father, all while watching This Is Us. And on the show, Sterling K. Brown plays Randall, who finds his own biological father, too.

"How [Randall] responded, and seeing his journey, his bond with his father and stuff like that is kind of a therapy," the fan tells the camera with tears in his eyes.

Another woman speaks to how she relates to the show and her appreciation for Chrissy Metz's character, Kate.

"There's this moment where she feels like she doesn't fit in," the fan says about Kate. "I've been in those situations. There are millions of other women out there who watch this show that I know appreciate this character so much for exploring those subtle insecurities that are so very real."

Finally, other fans talk about their experiences saying goodbye to loved ones before they pass, and how the show helped them cope with those emotions.

All the while, This Is Us stars Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz, Milo Ventimiglia, and Sterling K. Brown were sitting backstage, listening to their fans' words — and there's not a dry eye in the house.
