After Finding Out Why His Mom Did Not Go To Her Own Prom 14 Years Ago, Teenager Asks Her To Come To His

14 years later, her dream finally comes true.

Meet Danotiss Smith.

A senior at Waterford Kattering High School, 18-year-old Danotiss had his prom just last Friday. Not only that, but he asked someone very special to go to the prom with him. And that was his beautiful mother, Belinda Smith.

After learning that his mom did not attend her own prom, he asked her to come to his.

That's right, this tough guy is taking his own mom to the prom.

"Why?" you might be asking. Surely he can score a proper date. Well, there's a heartwarming reason behind it.

"Couple people asked me for the prom," Belinda Smith said in an interview with WDIV Local 4. "And I had to turn them down, because I didn't have funds to purchase a dress."

"Every day after school leading up to prom I cried," she told ABC News. "I just wanted to go so bad. From there, I said 'When I have kids, my kids are going to prom.' I wanted them to have what I didn't have."

When her son Danotiss learned this, he quickly realized he was in a position to make his mom's old dream come true. So he did.

And 14 years later, Belinda Smith finally got to go to the prom — as her son's date.
