17 Summer Date Ideas To Make Your Romance Sizzle All Season Long

Bask in the sun and the romance at once.

Whether you're single or in a relationship, summer is one of the best seasons to have a whirlwind romance. It doesn't matter if you're going on your first date or your fiftieth, the warm weather means there will be a ton of new seasonal activities to try with your special someone.

While there are some classic summer date staples, like going to an outdoor concert or having a beach day, you can make the most of the season by trying some unexpected date ideas, too.

So, even if your summer romance is already hot, hot, hot, these 17 summer date ideas will make sure it sizzles

1. Check out a local county fair.

If it worked for The Notebook's Noah and Allie, it's sure to work for you and your date. No matter where you live, a quick Google search will help you find a nearby county fair or carnival you can spend a sizzling summer day — and night.

2. See an outdoor concert.

There's nothing like live music to get you in the mood, and summer is the best season to do it. Many parks offer free summer concerts of up-and-coming local artists, potentially making this a cheap date option. It's also peak musical festival season if you want to arrange the ultimate day date.

3. Catch an outdoor movie.

Whether you head to a classic drive-in theater or modern rooftop cinema, this date puts a (literally) hot twist on the good ole "dinner and a movie" standby.

4. Have a beach day.

If your summer romance is already scorching, cool off together with a beach day. Whether you spend all your time in the water or on the sand is totally up to you. Don't worry if you live too far away from a beach, you can have just as much fun at a local or hotel pool.

5. Go on a sunset picnic.

Grab a basket, fill it with your favorite summer eats, and head to your favorite local park. That's all you need to have an intimate dinner surrounded by effortlessly romantic ambiance. If the date goes well, you might even want to stay for some...

6. Stargazing.

You don't have to know anything about astronomy to know this is a seriously cute (not to mention cheap) date. Even if you live in a big city, you can still find semi-secluded places (that are shielded from nearby bright lights) to look up at the stars.

7. Go on a boat ride.

Whether that means peddling a paddle boat around a pond or taking a ferry across a river, going on a boat probably isn't something you do every day, which makes it an extra special setting for a summer date.

8. Spend the day at an amusement park.

Just make sure you're on the same page when it comes to thrill rides first. If that's all good, then you can spend hours bonding over a shared adrenaline high. If you don't like rollercoasters, you can always catch some fun shows instead.

9. Get some ice cream.

Summer isn't complete without at least one scoop of ice cream. Share a sweet treat with your sweetie to cool down on a sultry night together.

10. Go to a baseball game.

Whether it's major or minor league, a baseball game is a fun summer activity that can even bring out you and your date's competitive sides if you're rooting for different teams. If you're not a baseball fan, you can always opt for a World Cup game instead.

11. Watch fireworks.

While fireworks are often reserved for Fourth of July, you might be surprised by how many local events also have them, especially if you live near the beach. After all, there's no better way to spark fireworks between two people than watching the real thing.

12. Check out a food festival.

Spend the day trying new dishes and sharing your favorites at a local food festival. After you've had your fill you can compare notes — and then make dinner plans.

13. Go for a hike.

Summer is all about making the most of warm weather, and a hike with your honey is a great way to do that. By getting out into nature, you also give yourselves the chance to disconnect from the outside world and connect with each other.

14. Visit a botanical garden.

This date idea is more than just Instagram worthy, it's another awesome way to appreciate nature's beauty. A walk through a botanical garden sounds like something straight out of a romantic comedy, which makes it the perfect setting for your real-life version.

15. Go on a bike ride.

This is a fun and silly date that can help you both loosen up while exploring your town, city, or even beach boardwalk. You can even try a bicycle built for two, if you've got some serious synchronization skills.

16. Browse around a flea market.

Flea markets are full of unusual and even rare items that are sure to spark some fun conversations. You might even stumble across a must-have item that can double as a fun reminder of your special day together.

17. Watch the sunrise.

The only thing more beautiful than a summer sunset is a summer sunrise. Flip date night on its head with an early morning snuggle sesh as you watch the world come to life right in front of you. Bagels and iced coffee are encouraged, but not required.
