A Struggling College Student Got This Note ... Exactly When She Needed It

Goodness for its own sake.

Like many in college, University of Manchester student Charlotte Rose Ford was feeling a bit overwhelmed when she attempted to navigate her university's counseling services system.

In a post that she shared on Facebook, Ford describes sitting in the cafe at the student union trying to make an appointment.

"It wasn't a particularly fun phonecall," she writes, "and I got a bit emotional whilst I was explaining to the counsellor what I wanted to see them for. At one point I mentioned the fact that I needed a letter for a mitigating circumstances form, and that I'd been to the doctor but that they would charge me £20 for it, which is money I can't always spare. I was quite teary talking to the counsellor and when I hung up the phone I pretty much just wanted to go back home to bed rather than to my afternoon lecture!"

That's when someone approached with a cup of coffee with a note from a stranger.

"So I sat there messaging one of my friends to see if maybe anyone could come and chat with me for a bit," she adds, "when someone came up to me, put a cup of coffee in front of me and said 'This is for you, someone sent it over.' And I found this note tucked inside the cup sleeve!"

The note contained two £10 notes and a few much-needed words of encouragement.

The note reads:

"I hope you don't mind that I overheard.

Just wanted to say don't worry! I've been there, I thought I wouldn't get through my undergrad & now I'm doing a PhD!

This is for the doctor's note. You'll get through it!"

How will you encourage someone today?
