The Heart-Wrenching Reason A Stranger Paid For A Little Girl’s Birthday Cake

This serves as a powerful reminder as to why spreading positivity is so important.

When Kyle Jauregui and his family went to pick up his little sister's birthday cake, they were surprised to find that it was already paid for by a stranger. When they subsequently discovered the story behind that random act of kindness, Jauregui took to Twitter to share the heartwarming news.

The anonymous stranger left a special note explaining the reason for her gift. Sadly, the woman wrote that she had lost her 9-month-old daughter; each year on December 27, her daughter's birthday, she does something to commemorate her.  "Dear birthday girl family," she wrote, "In honor of my daughter's 10th birthday I have chosen your birthday cake to pay for. Each year, I do this random act of kindness because I am unable to buy my daughter a cake of her own. Today is her big double-digit birthday. Please enjoy your day."

Jauregui posted photos of his sister with her cake as well as an up-close shot of the sweet note. "My family was speechless," he wrote in his tweet. "And we just want to say thank you to McKenna's mom and wish McKenna a Happy Birthday. There's still good in this world."

Needless to say, the tweet went viral, garnering nearly 70,000 retweets and over 200,000 likes. People were moved by the story, and reminded how powerful a simple kind act can be.

Losing a loved one, especially a child, is an indescribable pain; and for this woman to honor her late-daughter's birthday each year by helping another child celebrate theirs is one of the greatest examples of selflessness. The special note came with a card from the MISS Foundation, an international support organization for families who have lost children. It was through the card that the Jauregui family found Ashley Santi, McKenna's mom and the woman behind the note. According to Yahoo Lifestyle the family and Santi will meet each other this month.
