Watch Stephen Hawking Audition Your Favorite Celebrities To Be His New Voice

Anna Kendrick, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and more think they have what it takes.

Have you ever wondered what theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking would sound like if he used the voice of one of your favorite celebrities? A recent sketch from the U.K.'s Red Nose Day begs that exact question — with hilarious results.

Hawking has lost his ability to speak due to ALS, so he uses a speech synthesizer to communicate, and he's used the same computer-generated voice for more than 30 years. This year, he decided it was time for a change, so he auditioned some pretty big names in the hopes of finding the perfect new voice.

Celebrities such as Liam Neeson, Anna Kendrick, and Lin-Manuel Miranda made audition tapes to prove themselves. (If you're wondering whether Miranda presented his audition in the form of a rap, the answer is obviously yes.) Even Eddie Redmayne, who won an Oscar for playing Hawking in the film The Theory of Everything, makes an appearance. All the while, Hawking offers a few wry comments.

Red Nose Day is a charity telethon raising money for Comic Relief, which seeks to end poverty and social injustice around the world. According to the organizaiton's website, this year's Red Nose Day has already raised over £73 million.
