Shawn Mendes Talks Hockey And Harry Potter In Carpool Karaoke With James Corden

Wait until you see his Dumbledore costume.

Pop star Shawn Mendes kicked off his week-long residency on The Late Late Show Monday night by joining host James Corden for a little Carpool Karaoke. The 19-year-old belted out some of his most beloved tunes, from "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" to "Mercy," in between some pretty entertaining conversations.

When Mendes reveals that his mom still does his laundry for him, the pair get to talking about Justin Bieber's underwear, as you do. After that, Mendes reveals his love of the Harry Potter books and shows off a couple of wizardly outfits. "It's what keeps me young," he says.

The conversation soon turns to the topic of road rage. Canadian Mendes says he doesn't even honk his horn at people, so Corden challenges him to shout out the window at the next car that passes. "It just felt very unlike me," Mendes says when he does it.

But the real fun comes when Mendes shares that he played hockey for "a couple years," and takes Corden to an ice rink so he can try out being a goalie. "This was a mistake," Corden says once he's in his uniform. "I don't want to do this." Obviously, he gives it his best try — which isn't very good.
