On A Tense Election Night, An SNL-Inspired Senator Managed To Make Everyone Laugh

This is too good.

With election results looming, thousands of Americans logged on to Twitter over the course of Tuesday night to collectively take a minute. But few people's strategies to let off some steam proved quite as effective — or quite as hilarious — as New York Senator Chuck Schumer's tweeted case of mistaken identity.

Schumer's tweet includes a photo of himself beside the snack table at what looks like a Hillary Clinton campaign event. Kate McKinnon, the Saturday Night Live actress who portrayed Clinton in a series of sketches during the campaign, stands alongside him.

The senator's caption? "I got to congratulate Hillary Clinton — oops, wrong Hillary!"

Although it would be chuckle-worthy — and almost understandable! — if in all of the excitement, Schumer really did call McKinnon "Madame President," it seems a little too good to be true. Regardless, thank you, Senator, for giving us something to smile about while retweeting.
