School Shooting PSA Calls On Viewers To Get Familiar With The Warning Signs

Can you see the danger?

Gun violence can be stopped. That's the message of a new PSA video from Sandy Hook Promise. The Connecticut nonprofit's video, which is going viral for its stunning conclusion, sends a heart-wrenching and unforgettable message.

The people behind Sandy Hook Promise had loved ones die in the December, 2012 shooting. This video is part of their program called "Know The Signs."

"People who are at risk of hurting themselves or others often show signs and signals before an act of violence takes place," their website says. "When you don't know what to look for, it can be easy to miss signs, or dismiss them as unimportant, sometimes with tragic consequences."

Since the Sandy Hook shootings, the nonprofit Every Town For Gun Safety began tracking the frequency of school shootings. Between 2013 and 2015, they identified 160 school shootings across 38 states.  Those numbers are a reminder that this issue is bigger than just Sandy Hook, and that identifying ways to spot danger is important.
