No Met Gala Look Can Compare To Ryan Reynolds' Sweet Tribute To Wife Blake Lively

"She always responds with empathy."

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were among the celebrities who attended Monday night's Met Gala in New York City. The pair looked stylish as always, but even more beautiful than their fashion choices was the tribute that appeared on social media during the night, featuring loving words from Reynolds about his wife.

The message was posted by the Humans of New York Instagram account, along with a sweet photo of the couple at the event. Photographer Brandon Stanton's series features images of real people in New York City and around the world, highlighting the touching stories behind the photos. Just because the subjects were more recognizable doesn't mean this latest post was any different.

"She always responds with empathy," Reynolds said of Lively. "She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She'll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old."

"And she's made me a more empathetic person," the Deadpool actor continued. "I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn't want to remember. She made me remember the good times."

Reynolds and Lively named their first daughter James after Reynolds' father.

He may be one of the funniest celebrities around, and we can't get enough of his hilariously real tweets about fatherhood, but we like to see this side of the actor as well. And apparently so does Lively, as she herself "liked" the post.
