Ruby Rose Is The New Face Of Urban Decay, Says Everyone Deserves To 'Discover Their True Selves'

Individuality and self-expression are two values she holds dear.

It's Women's History Month — and Ruby Rose is making women everywhere proud.

Rose, a 29-year-old Australian model and actress known for her role in the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black, is an all-around awesome LGBTQ role model for self-expression and the promotion of "gender fluidity." And now Rose has been named beauty brand Urban Decay's "Most Addictive New Vice."

As a spokesperson for the brand, founder Wende Zomnir said Rose's responsibility will be to "[spread] the gospel of [Urban Decay's] self-expression, addiction to color, and 'beauty with an edge,' " reports Fashionista.

Furthermore, Rose added in a statement, captioned on Urban Decay's Instagram account:

“Urban Decay believes in supporting individuality and personal self-expression — two values I hold very dear — because everyone deserves the freedom to explore their personality and discover their true selves.”

Moreover, this announcement further promotes visibility of LGBTQ women within mainstream fashion and beauty industries.

Back in 2012, Isis King — America's Next Top Model's first trans woman contestant — landed an ad campaign with American Apparel for its partnership with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. And in 2014, Lea T became the first transwoman to land a global beauty campaign for Redken.

"We live in a new era where societies are starting to believe in us," Lea T told i-D. "I think this will happen more frequently and as I said, this fills my heart with joy!"

It's women like these that deserve to be promoting beauty brands, and help reestablish the notion of what it means to be beautiful.
