11 People Offer Their Best Pieces Of Breakup Advice In An Emotional Thread

It's going to be OK.

Going through a break-up is hard, but it's important to remember you're not alone.

"After seven years, my [significant other] and I ended things on Tuesday night," one 28-year-old Redditor began in a thread on the platform. "How do you process and cope with a loss such as this and still function at work and meet all [of] your responsibilities?" they asked.

And in classic Internet fashion, Redditors came to the rescue, commenting in the thread and offering their best pieces of breakup advice. The thread — which is marked serious to remain free of jokes, puns, etc. — is useful for all those experiencing difficult times in their relationship, so we thought we'd find some of the more helpful comments and compile them for you here.

For example, one person reminds the Redditor (and all of us) that we must rationalize with ourselves during a time like this.

"My brother and his [girlfriend] broke up after seven years as well. It was rough on him for a few weeks until he rationalized and realized that life does, in fact, go on, it will just be a transition," the user writes, adding that their brother ended up taking a solo trip to Japan and had a great time. He "hasn't looked back since."

"I'm sure it sucks, and I'm sorry it happened, but now you are living your life for you and no one else. Do what you want, man. Try new things, go to new places, things will get better with time and new experiences. Keep your head up!" they write, offering to chat further if need be.
