People Share The Realest Piece Of Advice A Mom Has Given Them

"Hide candy in an empty tampon box in the bathroom. No one else looks there."

Whether it's about sleeping, feeding, or diapers, new parents tend to receive a lot of words of wisdom from moms and dads who have been there. Sometimes these pieces of advice are broad and significant, like "be flexible" and "admit your mistakes." Other times, they're much more specific, like "sleep when the baby's sleeping," "find a good pediatrician," and "stay up to date on baby product recalls."

But sometimes, the advice new parents really need to hear is what to do when they're exhausted, stressed, or need a moment to themselves. Because we all know no parent is perfect — and they could all use some tips to make their daily lives just a little bit easier.

To compile some of those suggestions, parenting site Scary Mommy asked people to share, "What's the realest piece of advice a mom has given you?" They revealed some of the responses in a short video.

"Hide candy in an empty tampon box in the bathroom. No one else looks there," one mom advises.

"Pretend to be sick. Your kids will feel bad for you and then they'll do the work around the house, hence leaving you alone," another clever mom recommends.

The video was shared on Scary Mommy's Facebook page and has been viewed nearly 900,000 times, has over 5,000 likes, and has been shared nearly 900 times since it was posted last week. Many people took to the comments section to share some of their own words of wisdom for moms.
