You Think You Know Your Zodiac Sign? WRONG.

Mind. Blown.

You better grab a seat. Because what we're about to tell you might change your life once and for all.

Ready? Breath in, breath out...

There's an 86 percent chance that you were born under a different star sign than you think, BBC reports.

So we know what you're thinking.

What the actual heck? But this is real. And it is happening.

It's statistically likely you are not a Capricorn, even if you spent your entire life thinking so. How is that even possible? The BBC report explains this phenomena in greater detail:

The dates of the 'star signs' were fixed, over 2,000 years ago, when the zodiac was first devised. Then, they corresponded to the constellation of stars that appeared behind the Sun on the day you were born. But an astronomical phenomenon, unknown at the time, means that the constellations have drifted since then.

Meaning, dates remained, but stars shifted.

So wait... what's your real zodiac sign then?!

Luckily for us, BBC developed an interactive "star" map to help us answer that question. Essentially this is how the real dates behind each and every zodiac sign split:

19 December - 20 January: Sagittarius

21 January - 16 February: Capricorn

17 February - 12 March: Aquarius

13 March - 18 April: Pisces

19 April - 14 May: Aries

15 May - 21 June: Taurus

22 June - 20 July: Gemini

21 July - 10 August: Cancer

11 August - 16 September: Leo

17 September - 31 October: Virgo

1 November - 23 November: Libra

24 November - 29 November: Scorpio

And there's more...

... like a 13th-zodiac-sign more.

Yep. If you were born sometime between the 30th of November and the 18th of December, surprise! You actually are the 13th zodiac sign, Ophiuchus

As Le Monde, a French newspaper, explains, the 13th sign was deliberately removed more than 2,000 years ago. It is believed that this could be related to the difficulty of dividing 360 degrees of the sky into 13 parts. The current 12 zodiac signs makes it relatively easy to divide 360 degrees into 12 equal parts of 30 degrees each. That being said, an equal division is not realistic as the sun does not remain in each constellation for the same amount of time, Le Monde writes.

So now you know.

You're welcome.

Wait. Does this explain why those horoscopes actually never work? Maybe you were checking the wrong one all along.
