We Get A Kick Hanging Out With The Radio City Rockettes

"It comes across as very simple movement but it’s actually quite difficult.”

Celebrating the holiday season in New York City would not be complete without a visit to see the Radio City Rockettes in the Christmas Spectacular. So this year, we got to get up close and personal with four Rockettes to talk to them about the life-changing experience of becoming a Rockette and living out their childhood dreams.

Being a Rockette takes incredible talent, hard work, and dedication. It also means that you may not see your family during the holiday season because you are making memories for the thousands of people who see the show every year. But being a Rockette also means creating magic during the holiday season, and seeing the smiles on kids faces makes it all worthwhile.

"I got to meet a little girl the other day who came up and looked at me in the face and said, 'I want to be just like you when I grow up.' And she had just seen the show. And that just meant so much to me, to see someone have this become their dream, what we do."

"I like to say my story is ... every little girl's dream come true. My family and I have been seeing the Radio City Christmas Spectacular since I was 3, and that first time that the curtain rose and the Rockettes came up, and they shot forward as reindeer, and they linked up the first time kicking, and from what I've been told, I looked at my parents and I said that I wanted to be a Rockette. And I've never looked back. I can't remember ever wanting to do anything else."

"Being a Rockette is a tremendous thrill and honor, but you do have to give up a lot of time — time for friends, time for social activities. But really it's training your body and your mind and giving it 100 percent of your dedication for the season. I would love to have my family come visit me and to be able to go visit them during the Christmas season, but I'm at Radio City living my dream as a Rockette."

"I think being a Rockette is super empowering because we are such amazing role models for young boys and girls all over. We are the epitome of 'hard work really pays off,' and we always try to bring positive energy to anything we do."
