'Queer Eye's' Jonathan Van Ness Helps People Overcome Insecurities With His Affirmations

"My beauty is in my heart."

In a video from Harper's Bazaar, Queer Eye's Jonathan Van Ness offers affirmations to people with insecurities, helping them access just a little more self-love

Watch the video (below) as Van Ness — a hairstylist, grooming expert, podcaster, and television personality — meets with various participants to talk about their lives. He meets a soon-to-be mom, a single man in his mid-30s, and a woman with endometriosis, a condition that happens when the lining of the uterus (womb) grows outside of the uterus.

"I'm really struggling to feel some sort of confidence, and that I'm still sexy," the woman with endometriosis says. "I love my body, but my hair's not doing it for me."

"Your beauty is something that your hair, your face, and your body could never even touch," Van Ness tells her, bringing tears to her eyes. He offers her this affirmation: "My beauty is in my heart."

Another participant explains he feels he's always trying to help other people, but that those actions aren't necessarily reciprocated. To that, Van Ness gives him this affirmation: "I am enough." He then asks the participant to look at himself in the mirror and repeat it back.

It's clear Van Ness's positive energy and words help make the participants feel better and smile. Daily affirmations can make anyone feel better and can be a great way to boost confidence.
