17 Illustrations That Show It's OK To Be Who You Are, Even If You're Super Low Maintenance

"I think many people don't get that it's OK to be just who you are."

This artist wants you to know it's OK to sometimes be awkward, low maintenance, and procrastinate. While many people use social media to show the best sides of themselves, Prudence Geerts is using her platform to show some of her daily struggles and not so pretty moments.

On her Instagram account Planet Prudence, the 25-year-old computer science student shows moments we've all experienced: popping pimples when we know we shouldn't, curling up on the couch at home instead of going out, and forgoing some extra grooming every once in awhile.

Geerts started drawing characters she thought were cute, but later realized she could use her art to motivate and comfort others by sharing relatable comics on social media. She hopes her illustrations help people "accept themselves when they are in similar situations."

She hopes people know that making mistakes, finding yourself in awkward situations, and doing things differently than others isn't a bad thing. "I think many people don't get that it's OK to be just who you are, and that people will love you just the way you are," she said.

Geerts hopes her comics will help both men and women to realize they don't need to strive for society's standard of perfection. "We all want to hide our 'flaws,' but we don't really have to. We're all hiding them at the same time, you know?" she said. "And mostly, they're even the same kind of 'flaws' we want to hide. It's OK to be who you are. That's the message I want to give to as [many] people as possible. I hope to inspire many others, in a funny, relatable, and comfortable way."
