Patrick Stewart Meeting His New Rescue Dog Is Sure To Make You Smile

Ginger is looking for a permanent home.

Sir Patrick Stewart has welcomed a new member to his household, and she has four legs and a wagging tail. With the help of the ASPCA and rescue organization Wags and Walks, the English actor and his wife Sunny Ozell are fostering a dog — a rescue pit bull named Ginger.

Stewart shared video on social media of their first meeting, declaring that he's "in LOVE" and adding the hashtag #AdoptDontShop. It's impossible not to smile over his and Ginger's instant connection. Upon receiving a hello kiss, Stewart tells the pup, "Thank you for that. That was a very nice greeting."

He later shared a video of himself and Ginger hanging out at the pool.

Stewart visited Conan O'Brien's talk show this week to talk about his new companion and share that Ginger is the first dog he's had in more than 50 years, since his childhood dog Rover, a border collie, was put down. He explained that Ginger had been a breeding dog for a pit bull fighting ring.

"They're all over the country, every state has these things, and they're very cruel," he said. "The dogs get hurt and harmed. But now she's with us."

Since Stewart is only fostering Ginger, he's looking for a permanent home for her. If you're interested in adopting, be sure to follow Stewart's social media, where he'll be sharing further details.
