These Parents Deserve A Gold Star For The Hilarious Gift They Gave Their Son's Teacher

"I am a teacher and I approve this gift."

When the holidays roll around, many parents show their appreciation for their kids' teachers by giving them a gift. Things like chocolates, gift cards, and stationary often end up wrapped in a bow on the teacher's desk. But Mary and Paul Sommers had a better idea this year.

Their oldest son, DJ Sommers, shared it on Twitter. "My parents always get our elementary school teachers a present around Christmas. Typically something small like a candle or flower to say 'thank you,' " he wrote. "This year they got them bottles of wine and replaced the labels with their own with my brother on them ... "

The labels have a photo of their 14-year-old son, Jake Sommers, and reads, "Our child might be the reason you drink so enjoy this bottle on us!"

"How many coffee mugs does a teacher need," Mary told the Dayton Daily News. "But who doesn't need a glass of wine after teaching a kid like mine?"

Jake thought it was a great idea, too. "I thought it was funny," he told BuzzFeed.

People online certainly loved the gesture. DJ's tweet has been shared more than 6,700 times and has over 40,800 retweets since he posted it on Monday. Many people and other teachers responded to say that they definitely approved.

So, the next time you're out with a teacher friend, you may want to raise a glass to them.
