OkCupid's Newest Badge Wants To Help You Find A Socially-Conscious Bae

Stand with Planned Parenthood — and a cutie by your side.

Dating app OkCupid wants to help singles find the love/Planned Parenthood supporter of their life with its newest badge. Every user who responds "no" to the question "Should the government defund Planned Parenthood?" will have the "#IStandWithPP" badge added and "prominently displayed" to their profiles.

According to company data, over 80 percent of respondents have answered "no" so far. That increases to 90 percent among millennial women OkCupid users.

"OkCupid's partnership with Planned Parenthood is really exciting because it enables us to help people connect on the issues that matter to them. In this current climate, this matters more than ever when it comes to finding 'your person,'" said Melissa Hobley, CMO of OkCupid in a statement. "We know that Planned Parenthood is driving conversations, support and education that millions care about ... so we decided to make it easy to find the folks who cared about the same thing."

The badge will be available to users for one month, during which time the app's algorithm will also recognize the badge and use it to promote like-minded daters to one another.

With its new profile feature and pledge to match every dollar donated to Planned Parenthood up to $50,000, OkCupid joins the rank of dating apps using their platform helping socially conscious singles come together in support of progressive causes. In November 2016, Tinder added transgender identification options and a feature allowing users to write in their desired gender. Neqtr is another dating app created specifically for "socially conscious people looking to meet others with the same passions," from activism to yoga to rescuing stray animals.
