The Amazing Reason These Fans Tweeted Nicki Minaj Their Grades This Weekend

It was a generous Saturday night.

How did you spend your Saturday night? Nicki Minaj spent hers making a spontaneous and very generous offer to her fans on Twitter. Thanks to her, over a dozen students may be able to pay off their college debts.

Refinery29 reports that it all started when Minaj tweeted about a contest to join her in the studio or at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. After telling fans she could afford to fly people from any country, one fan replied, "Well you wanna pay for my tuition?"

It may have been a joke, but Minaj took it seriously, replying that if the fan could provide proof of their straight As, she would pay it. "Who wants to join THAT contest?!?!" she asked. "Dead serious."

A stream of fans took her up on her offer, tweeting proof of their 4.0 GPAs and sharing what they needed. One fan even asked her to help a "fellow immigrant" (Minaj was born in Trinidad and Tobago) go to school.

According to The Daily Beast, eventually, Minaj apparently stopped requiring 4.0 GPAs, agreeing to pay for summer courses, online classes, student loans, and books โ€” even a camera. She told fans to DM her their bank info and proof, and she would get it done.

Minaj ended up offering to help more than a dozen fans in one way or another, potentially paying tens of thousands of dollars so they could afford an education.

Minaj ended the night by telling fans she would make the payments the next day and "then see if I have any money left," adding that she would do it again in a month or two. She couldn't resist agreeing to help one more fan after the cut-off, however.

Minaj isn't the first celebrity in recent months to generously offer to pay her fans' tuition. In April, Chrissy Teigen donated $5,600 to a woman's crowdfunding page so she could afford to go to beauty school. "I've seen this be your passion for such a long time now. So excited to see you fulfill your dream!" she said.

We love seeing celebrities use their good fortune to help others achieve their goals.
