Today is a very important celebration: it's National Superhero Day! Twitter and Instagram are both overflowing with posts featuring the hashtag #NationalSuperheroDay and featuring many different types of champions — from those who save the world in the pages of comic books to those who make a difference in the real world.

In addition to the cape-donned and spandex-clad folks, some are celebrating people such as judges, scientists, dogs, politicians, athletes, teachers, religious figures, medical professionals, activists, social workers, the military, and even these window washers.

Let's take a look at how everyone around the world is celebrating this special day in a more traditional sense by honoring those fictional characters who have been a source of inspiration to them. From fan art to cosplay to memes, there's tons of comic book love out there. We could all use a moment like this to come together and celebrate the common good.
