Mom Jumps Into Action When Her Daughter Gets Stage Fright In The Middle Of Her Talent Show

"I don't want her to feel defeated ... so that's when I just stepped in."

Getting up on stage can be frightening for anyone, but it's a lot easier when you have a loved one cheering you on. Like this amazing mom who joined her daughter's talent show after she froze on stage. Ten-year-old Makayla Ferrell stepped on stage and started singing Andra Day's "Rise Up," but about a minute in, her voice faded. She stood there in front the audience as the music continued to play.

That's when her mom, Shaye Washington, sprang into action.

She jumped on stage and joined Makayla in singing the song. Together, they finished the song strong and were met with cheers from the entire audience.

In an interview with CBS News, Makayla explained why she froze on stage. "I just forgot because I was nervous to, like, even sing anymore," she said.

"I was like, 'Uh-oh it looks like she's about to have a breakdown.' And I don't want her to feel defeated ... so that's when I just stepped in," Shaye said.

A video of the loving moment was posted to Facebook and has been viewed over 8.4 million times. Many people responded to applaud Shaye for the way she supported her daughter.

"That's a great way to rise up momma! Supporting your daughter when she needed you! ," one commenter wrote.

"Tears streaming when her mommy went up there and sang with her! Beautiful. That's what a mom does for her baby.," another added.

Shaye has been blown away by all of the positive comments she's received from strangers. "I wanted to teach my daughter perseverance," she wrote on Facebook. "I am so grateful for all of the love I am receiving from strangers because sometimes I am hard on myself as a mom and think I'm not doing enough so all of the kind words are definitely a breath of fresh air."

From the looks of it, Shaye has nothing to worry about. She's doing a wonderful job as a mother.
