This Mom Documents Everyday Moments With Her Son In Beautiful Illustrations. Here Are 13 Of Our Favorites.

"James is my constant reminder to stay present."

Every parent will tell you that kids grow up so much faster than you think. And, while their first few years can definitely be challenging, they're also some of the moments you'll never want to forget. This mom has found a sweet and creative way to document them.

Kara Western, a stay-at-home mom living in the Alps of France, doesn't just take photos of her son, James. She also creates "drawings and casual little doodles" of everyday moments she shares with him.

Since January, Western, who is also known as @karacandraw online, has been sharing her illustrations of her family on social media. Her sweet style and drive to capture life's little parenting moments has already earned her hundreds of fans. From snuggling up on the couch to breastfeed, to spending the day lazy in bed, to watching her son chase after the vacuum, these small, everyday activities are clearly resonating with many other parents. It's these moments that are too often overlooked that Western is helping to bring attention to. These are just as important as the major milestones.

"I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, but it's not until I started my own family that I decided to pursue my drawings more seriously. Before, my drawings were just for me and my family. Now I'm starting to realize that other people might enjoy them too!" she wrote on Etsy

"My little helper is never too far away. In fact, whenever I sit down, he insists on being at my feet and pulling at my pants, even though 10 seconds before I sat down he was completely content playing with his toys. What's with that??"

"Buildin' stuff and being a boy with papa."

"Going out of my comfort zone and drawing something in a different style. I can tell James and I are coming to the end of our breastfeeding journey. If you had told me this 2 months ago, I would have stifled back tears and stubbornly held on to my convictions that we would still be breastfeeding for a longtime yet. But it's time. I know that now, and I think James has known it for longer than I have. He's telling me he doesn't need it anymore, and I'm ready to listen. I'm ready."

"It's the weekend!!! Time for lots of ā˜ļø this for us. šŸ˜“šŸ˜“ (just kidding, James can't settle for longer than 5 seconds when we're all together in the bed šŸ˜…)"

"James is my constant reminder to stay present. I have a bad habit of getting caught up on my phone, wasting my time instead of doing something fulfilling. When I'm in my haze, he comes up to me with a toy, eagerly calling me to play with him. I've learned to look at my phone less, and instead of missing it, I spend more time playing with James, doing yoga, drawing or learning a new language! There is so much to do now that I'm not stuck on the internet. It's a really great feeling."

"First job in the morning is vacuuming. We have a really small apartment so cat hair and crumbs and gross things build up quick. James likes to chase after the vacuum and thinks it's the coolest thing ever. But for some reason he is very mistrusting of the hair dryer."

"I can't be the only 'bad' parent that doesn't watch age appropriate things with their kid. I mean he's only 18 months, he can't possibly understand what that dragon's doing, right!?"

"When your toddler is having a really hard time sleeping due to teething, but you don't want to undo months of sleep training ..."

"James and I are learning Italian, and normally we do it during breakfast. I obnoxiously repeat things like, "the boy wants to eat" and James gets mad because he is not having his face shovelled with food. Any day now he will be saying, "mangia, mangia, il bambino mangia!"

"#valentinesday is coming up but this year it will be a little different."

"All those cool insta-moms post their videos of them doing yoga with their baby, but I don't get how they do it. James is constantly tugging on my legs and refuses to be anywhere, but right in the center of the mat."

"He's a pretty good shower partner ... "

"I haven't been feeling very motivated lately for my little doodles, and that makes me sad. I'm not going to sugarcoat it, James has been super difficult these past few weeks. It's been a real adjustment and test of patience, which doesn't leave me with a lot of free time. But I'm trying to adjust my mindset, and focus on the little moments that warm my heart ... "
