Melissa McCarthy Had A Life-Changing Surprise For This Mother-Daughter Duo On ‘Ellen’

"We know a little more about you, that's why you're here."

Melissa McCarthy's latest visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show was filled with laughs (as per usual), but one moment absolutely captured our hearts. A deserving mother-daughter duo, who both want to achieve their educational goals, got more than they could have ever expected after playing a beer pong with the Bridesmaid star.

The 47-year-old actress joined Ellen DeGeneres to promote her new film Life of the Party, in which she plays a woman who decides to go back to college — with her daughter, of course — after she is dumped by her husband. McCarthy's husband, Ben Falcone, directed the movie and they wrote it together. Check out the hilarious trailer here:

To have some fun celebrating Life of the Party, DeGeneres invited a mother and daughter — Chassidy Jackson-Goodwin and Jaida Jackson, respectfully, from Lincoln, Neb. — to play an odd version of beer pong with McCarthy. After they got excited for winning $7,000 according to the rules of the game, DeGeneres and McCarthy had a surprise for the ladies.

"We know a little more about you, that's why you're here," DeGeneres tells the women, getting into their backstory. Turns out Chassidy, who spent her life serving others and is beloved by her community, is a single mom. Now, she is struggling to put Jaida through college at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Despite that, Chassidy dreams of going back to college herself.

DeGeneres then announces that Shutterfly loved Chassidy and Jaida so much that it was moved to give them $25,000 to help out with both their educations. With the emotions at a high, McCarthy amps it up even more by saying Life of the Party is matching that donation with another $25,000 … and adding that she and her husband will chip in yet another $25,000.

With $75,000 toward their education, this mother-daughter pair is ready to take on the world.
