These Marvel Stars Sent Messages To A Young Fan Who's A Superhero In His Own Right

"I hope this puts a smile on your face."

After a young Marvel fan's story went viral earlier this month, several stars of the popular superhero films have taken the time to send video messages of support. The 17-year-old Australian fan, named Josh, has been given "only a couple of months to live," according to a Twitter post by a family friend.

According to his GoFundMe page, Josh was diagnosed with leukemia at age 5 and more recently was diagnosed with glioblastoma, the same brain cancer which took John McCain's life. His friend's post explains that Josh's wish is to receive messages from Marvel actors, specifically his "favorite" Ryan Reynolds.

The post received more than 100,000 retweets, and caught the attention of several Marvel stars, who sent videos to the young fan, which were then tweeted by an account run by Josh's mother.

Reynolds, who called himself "Uncle Deadpool," told Josh that he wanted to let him know "that we love you, that we're thinking about you," adding, "I know that you're a Deadpool fan and a superhero fan, and I think that's amazing. I also think that's kind of funny ... I think it's pretty much a fact that you have more courage and more strength in your pinky finger than any superhero does in their entire body."

He apparently spoke to Chris Evans (aka Captain America) about Josh's story, as the actor sent a video of his own, saying Josh has "good taste" for his love of Marvel. "Thanks for the support, pal. Just wanted to say hi. Hope you're doing good today, and take care."

Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt said in his own video that he was "moved" by Josh's story, adding, "I think real heroes are young people like you who have to face challenges and do so with the bravery that I heard you do." He said he's "sending love, hugs, blessing, kisses, and prayers and thoughts" to Josh and his family.

Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine on screen, shared a short video of his own, telling Josh that he is "thinking about you, your family and friends, sending you lots of positive thoughts." He told Josh to "keep fighting" and thanked him for his support, adding, "It really means a lot to me."

Spider-Man star Tom Holland also reached out to let Josh know that "everyone at Marvel is thinking about you, and we send you all our love."

It's heartwarming to see these big stars come together to show support for a deserving fan.
