A Photo Of Marvel's Female Superheroes And The Reason Why It Was Taken Are Truly Heroic

#BadassLadiesOfMarvel, assemble!

Some say a picture is worth a thousand words — but sometimes they only need seven words for them impactful. One comic book writer shared a behind-the-scenes snapshot from Vanity Fair's recent Marvel-themed extravaganza with some of the strong and powerful women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, when revealing the reason for taking it, proved just how much representation matters.

Craig Kyle, who co-produced the first two Thor movies and co-wrote the third, took to social media on Monday, November 27, to break the internet with a singular photo. While he simply wrote on Instagram that it was "the coolest picture [he's] ever taken," on Twitter, he expanded on that by writing "I took this shot for my daughter." Cue the waterworks, right?

The group of ladies — which doesn't comprise all of the women in the MCU but does feature most — includes: Zoe Saldana (Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnarok), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel from the upcoming Captain Marvel movie), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow from The Avengers), Danai Gurira (Okoye from the upcoming Black Panther movie), Karen Gillan (Nebula from Guardians of the Galaxy), Evangeline Lilly (Wasp from Ant-Man), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2).

Just imagine the pure joy Kyle's daughter must have felt when her daddy came home and, when she least expected it, flashed this gem. In a year when we've seen little girls react so positively to the Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman film — whether they show it through Wonder Woman cosplay or when they met the Amazon herself, Gal Gadotseeing a female superhero kick butt on the big screen reinforces the fact that they, too, can do anything.

Oh, and of that Avengers: Infinity Wars trailer that dropped today, Kyle had this to say: "Minds will be blown and hearts will be broken." So, yeah, prepare yourself for May 2018.
