Opening Ceremony And The Lipstick Lobby Have Teamed Up To Support Planned Parenthood

"While lipstick might not change the world, it’s the small things that count."

Lipstick — yes lipstick — can be a powerful tool. Not only can it be used to express creativity, but it can be a way for people to show their support for a worthy cause. 

For example, Tarte Cosmetics and ByStander Revolution teamed up to use lipstick as a means to bring awareness to their anti-bullying campaign with a #KissAndMakeup video in 2016. The #SmearForSmear campaign in 2015 featured smeared lipstick to help raise awareness about cervical cancer and encourage women to get pap smear tests. Lipstick can even be used to promote messages of inclusivity, which is what Tyme Cosmetics did last year with its gender-fluid lipsticks


Now, Lipstick Lobby and Opening Ceremony are collaborating to create a lipstick to help raise funds for Planned Parenthood.

Fashion brand Opening Ceremony teamed up with the The Lipstick Lobby, a  social justice movement for change, progress, and equality, to create the Kiss My Pink Lipstick. The vibrant pink lipstick is cruelty-free and vegan.

Best of all, 100 percent of the profits from each $19 tube will be donated to Planned Parenthood.

"We're excited to announce @TheLipstickLobby, the next wave of defense in the fight for women's reproductive rights ... " Opening Ceremony explained on Instagram. "While lipstick might not change the world, it's the small things that count."

The message is clear: expressing political activism doesn't have to be some huge gesture. It doesn't even have to mean going out to protest. It can simply mean buying lipstick in support of a cause you believe in. Easy as pie. 

As The Lipstick Lobby points out, Planned Parenthood is one of the leading providers of quality, affordable health care in the United States. It's also the nation's largest provider of sex education. Approximately 2.4 million women and men in the United States annually visit Planned Parenthood for information and services, so it's vital that these people continue to have access to them. 

In addition to buying the lipstick, many people are "puckering up for social justice" by sharing photos on social media of them wearing the Kiss My Pink lipstick with hashtags such as #lipsticktotheman.

According to Allure, Opening Ceremony and The Lipstick Lobby plan to release another shade in the fall that will benefit another charity. We can't wait to find out what it is.
