Liev Schreiber Is A Tough Guy On Screen, But Even He Couldn’t Resist The Charm Of Two Sweet Puppies

"Home at last."

Puppies could melt just about anyone's heart, including tough guy Liev Schreiber.

The Ray Donovan star was stopped in his tracks when he saw two sweet pups backstage before appearing on Live! With Kelly and Ryan this week. The furry duo was among the many animals displaced due to Hurricane Harvey and Schreiber didn't hesitate to offer them a loving home, even if it meant having to arm wrestle one of the show's producers for the 3-month-old puppies.

"I just had a dustup with one of your producers," he told Kelly. "I don't think it's fair or appropriate that your producers get to take all of the dogs that came from Houston. My sons want a dog."

Turns out Schreiber didn't have to get physical in order to win the hearts of the dogs over for the sake of his sons, Sasha and Kai.

After FaceTiming with the boys and their mother, his ex-wife Naomi Watts, it was a done deal.

"Look what I just got," he wrote on Instagram. "Couple of orphans from Houston checking out the Big Apple for the first time. Thank you #kellyandryan #harvey."

It's a happy ending to a rather tragic story. While the final numbers have yet to be determined, animal rescue officials estimate thousands of pets are in need after being caught up in the flood or left behind by their owners, fleeing to save their own lives, according to Mercury News.

The Humane Society is working with San Antonio Animal Care Services to house some of the displaced pets as well as Wings of Rescue, which will take the lead in transporting more than 100 animals to out-of-state animal shelters in Oregon, Washington state, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., reports CBS News.

At least two of those impacted animals have now found a loving home with Schreiber, who appears to be more than happy to care for them.

"Home at last," he captioned a sweet photo on Instagram.
