How What We Say Can Cause Anxiety And Depression In Someone Else

Don't go changing to please other people.

We're all different in one way or another and that's what makes the world interesting. Having said that, just about every person at one point in their life has been made to feel like they just don't fit in. There are some folks who are being mistreated every day, simply for being themselves. 


Imagine being picked on just for being you.

Mental health organization Beyond Blue promotes tolerance and respect through their #stopthinkrespect campaign. 

In a video skit, they use the example of a left-handed person living in a right-handed world to raise awareness of and empathy for the bullying faced by the LGBTQ community.

Although 10 percent of the world is left-handed, there still are biases against them — for example, the lack of left-handed products such as scissors, or the unfortunate tendency of teachers to ask students to write with their other hand.

People have the right to be accepted and respected for who they were born to be. As the video says, "Imagine being made to feel like crap just for being yourself."

The things we say can cause anxiety and depression in other people.
