When A Fan Threw A Pride Flag On Stage At Her Concert, Lady Gaga Knew Just What To Do

"Needless to say, I have a lot to say about this issue."

Lady Gaga kicked off her Joanne World Tour on Tuesday night in Vancouver, and took the opportunity during the show to send a message of love and equality to the the LGBTQ community.

It started when someone threw an LGBTQ Pride flag toward the stage. "Security?" Gaga asked a man standing nearby. "May I have that gay Pride flag?" The audience erupted with applause as Gaga took the flag and held it up in a powerful stance under the spotlight.

After taking a moment to accept something else from the audience — a homemade Academy Award — Gaga returned her attention back to the flag.

"Needless to say, I have a lot to say about this issue," the star said into the mic, before draping the flag over the piano bench. That's for sure — Gaga has spoken up for the LGBTQ community throughout her career, most recently in response to President Trump's proposed ban on transgender people serving in the military.

"But the most important thing that I have to say about it is that everybody's got to love each other," Gaga continued, quoting lyrics from her song "Come to Mama," off Joanne. "Stop throwing stones at your sisters and your brothers. 'Cause it wasn't that long ago that we were all just living in the jungle."

The audience sang along with Gaga to the next lyric: "So why do we gotta put each other down when there's more than enough love to go around?"

"So for any of you who don't believe in equality who are here listening, you come to mama," Gaga said, before launching into the song, as dancers in psychedelic floral outfits surrounded her piano. At one point during the song, one of the dancers took the Pride flag from Gaga's bench and incorporated it into the performance.

"Come to mama / Tell me who hurt ya," Gaga sings on the track. "There's gonna be no future / If we don't figure this out."
