Kristen Bell Shares Emotional Instagram Post To Mark Dax Shepard's 14th Year Of Sobriety

"You set an excellent example of being human."

Over the weekend, Kristen Bell shared a touching Instagram tribute to mark husband Dax Shepard's 14th year of sobriety. Shepard has been open over the years about his struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, a quality for which Bell expressed pride as she reminisced about their marriage.

The actress posted a series of photos of Shepard, many of them with their two daughters. "To the man [who] mocked me in our wedding photos because I cried too many tears of joy," Bell wrote to start the post, which includes an image of that very moment. She went on to describe Shepard wearing a Babybjörn and holding their beloved dog before he passed away.

"I know how much you loved using," she wrote. "I know how much it got in your way. And I know, because I saw, how hard you worked to live without it."

"I will forever be in awe of your dedication, and the level of fierce moral inventory you perform on yourself, like an emotional surgery, every single night," Bell continued. "You never fail to make amends, or say sorry when [it's] needed. You are always available to guide me, and all of our friends, with open ears and tough love when [it's] needed most."

"I'm so proud that you have never been ashamed of your story, but instead shared it widely, with the hope it might inspire someone else to become the best version of themselves," she wrote in the post, which has received more than 1 million likes, "You have certainly inspired me to do so."

"I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone, and I want you to know, I see you," Bell wrote to conclude the tribute. "I see how hard you work. You set an excellent example of being human."

Bell also celebrated Shepard's important day by taking him on a tour of the King's Hawaiian factory. He posted his excitement over the trip on Instagram with a photo of Bell and his podcast producer Monica Padman, writing, "I ate 8 STRAIGHT [out of] the oven."

On Valentine's Day this year, Bell shared her advice for married couples in a sweet social media post. It included the advice to "stay vulnerable with each other" and reminded those reading that "loving someone despite their faults, failings, or character defects, is the most the most powerful loving thing you can do."

Based on Bell's most recent post, we'd say she's doing a pretty good job following her own advice.
